Migraine Headaches by Anonymous
I live in western Washington. I suffer from painful migraine headaches, including nausea. I've tried many of the usual prescription medicines which are ineffective at treating the pain and in some cases add to the nausea. At the suggestion of a friend, I tried medical marijuana several years ago. Presto, it greatly alleviates the pain and nausea, plus it shortens the duration of the episode. Recently, I went to a pain specialist, an osteopath, to find out more about what is causing these headaches and to get documented support for my use of medical marijuana. I told him everything, including the effectiveness of my treatments with marijuana. He really couldn't pinpoint the root cause, but suggested manual manipulation of the spine. He also prescribed imetrex and another triptan type of inhaled drug. He was not supportive of my use of marijuana. Needless to say, I'm not excited about taking more dangerous prescription drugs, or useless manipulation of my spine.
